First posting Taiwan Trip

hello I'm kimkim. Well I have always wanted to start blogging ever since ever but I am just to lazy to update about my life. I rather call up a friend and chat about it. Anyway since I am so "free" now, I shall doing some "bo liao" blogging. Recently worried that we will cat fight or at least saliva fight, hehe! But we didn't, phew!:) And it was a really fun trip for us. We are a group of 6 friends of 11 years (ever since the first day of secondary school in the same class) but we have never been on a trip together. It took us 2 years+ to save up an amount and too, the gals were waiting for my comeback from studies, we finally packed our bags and set to taiwan two weeks ago. We went to Taipei (more shopping), Hualien (Taroko gorge), Jiufen (day trip), Keelung (for a couple of hours for dinner) and went to taiwan for a one week trip with my long term good friends. 6 of us were so yangmingshan (for hotspring). It is quite a nostalgic trip for us, as we get to play with fireworks (in singapore not allow to play), went to a night market played air gun shooting. I haven't done any air gun shooting for 10 years, since the last time i was in the school air rifle team for year. Ah tng was a Pro man, she was 百發百中。She won two soft toys in the end, not bad woh! All these happened in Hualien after we went Taroko visiting Taiwan's big nature.

Oh ya, in between roaming around Taroko in the tour bus, we stop by the Hotel for lunch and beside the hotel, there is a temple. When we were on our way climbing up, one of the nuns asked us to bring some branches on our way up. At first, I thought she was mentioning up there, probably just one flight of stairs right in front. BUt derr......, it wasn't, it was a few flight fo stairs and I really regretted that I had chosen one of the heavier branch. Damn, but nevermind, I did make it up there and didn't faint at all. hehe! We went up and 拜拜, the nun at the temple was very nice. Offering us amulets and books of Buddhism. She was very kind and very patient in explaining to us some of the meaning of the message scrolls we picked from the box (something like 求簽 but we just pick a msg from the box randomly). My message was good, consider the best among all, I hope things will be going easier for me once I start working at my new job in mid of this month.

My favourite part of Taiwan is Jiufen. It was such a beautiful area. It has small corners, selling very chinese stuffs, good scenery cafes but too bad it was raining. Probably I haven't seen the best of it. I also had my second taste of stinky tofu, wahahha, only liyan and me will appreciate it though, the rest ran away like mad. I love Santorini, Venice and Jiufen is the next great place I am fond of. Jiufen is similar in some sense to Santorini, just that it is less white, more oriental. I like the kind of small town look.

Last few days in Taipei was intensive shopping for us. Shopping for local goodies or season end sale, we just kept walking none stop. Our walkie talkies kept us close whenever after we stayed too long in the shops or whenever, we would meet up somehow nearby by just calling each other. It is definitely an economical way of contacting each other nearby without paying a bomb on the roaming charges. Sometimes we will cross over other people's channels, and there was once Liyan answered back to poke fun of them. There was one occasion, I thought I scared the illegal store owners away when I took out my talkie saying "You guys are coming" in mandarin. And I started seeing the people packing away in mass, ahaha! But it wasn't because of me, there was really a police car patrolling on its way.

Met up with ah woo and Hong Kan during my second day in Taipei, they brought us around after we left SOGO, took us hours to walk from one street to another due to we stopped by too many shops to get to the fen wan shop. It was nice seeing them and I was afraid we were unable to meet, cos if we didn't meet up, I am not sure when I will get to see them in person again. Probably after years later, we never know. So far, I am too poor to fly to London for holiday, can't even afford to fly back to watch my favourite George Michael on stage, sob sob! But nevermind, I shall wait for his dvd then. youtube has already stored lots of his performances though on his Europe concert tour, thanks to technology and widespread of internet.
